About the Course
PADI® Open Water Diver is the first scuba certification level. A highly-trained PADI Instructor will teach you how to scuba dive in a relaxed, supportive learning environment.
By the end of the course, you’ll have the skills and knowledge to dive at home or abroad and be an ambassador for the underwater world.
Prerequisites:
A Medical Questionnaire must be completed by all participants. Some participants may require their Physician’s approval prior to in-water activities. Participants must be at least 10 years old, in good health, reasonable fitness, and feel comfortable in the water.
Earning the Open Water Diver certification requires completion of the modules below.
Knowledge Development (included)
- Convenient online access to knowledge development course materials on PADI’s eLearning platform using your computer or mobile device.
- Complete eLearning when and where it’s convenient for you prior to your pool training.
- Approximately 10-15 hours.
- Lifetime access to your eLearning materials.
Confined Water Dives (included) - Develop basic scuba skills and equipment handling techniques in a pool.
- Classes are offered in either a weekend or weeknight program.
- You provide your own mask, snorkel, boots, and fins (students get a discount if they buy all those items from Scuba World).
- All the other necessary scuba equipment is provided by Scuba World.
Open Water Certification Dives
Put it all together and apply your diving knowledge and skills while making four (4) open water dives.
- We schedule local checkout dives at Mermet Springs every month (May – Oct)
- We complete three (3) dives on Saturday, and then Sunday we complete the remaining dive(s).
- You provide your own mask, snorkel, boots, and fins.
- Scuba World provides the rest of the required equipment.
